"Andy where are you?" I heard my mother asked me. God she's so annoying.
"Almost done getting ready mum." I called back. Tonight's a special dance party where I'm supossed to meet 'the man of my dreams'. Yeah right! What man would love me? I'm just a dreamer.
That's something my dad loved about me. Before he passed away that is.
"Daddy, I had that dream again."
"The one where you're in that magical place?"
"It's called Wonderland! It had a talking cat, and I had tea with the maddest of people." He laughed and put his hand on my face as if he was checking my temperature. "Daddy, have I gone mad?"
"I'm afraid so. But I'll tell you something: All the best people are." I smiled and he kissed the top of my head. "Now go back to bed sweetheart." I nodded and curled up in my bed.
I shook my head to get out of the flashback. How mad was I when I was little? Very.
"Andy hury up!" Jinxx, my brother yelled down at me.
"Coming!" I slipped on my heels and ran downstairs, holding the bottom of my dress up so I wouldn't trip.
"Then let's go!" We walked outside and into the carriage.
"I wish you'd dress more proper." Mother snapped.
"What's wrong with how I'm dressed?"
"Ripped stockings." She lifted my dress up to show them.
"What about them?"
"It's not proper. Here, wear this." She reached behind her head and unsnapped her necklace before handing it to me.
"But mother, this is your best necklace."
"Special times calls for special jewelry. Just put it on." I put it on my neck and let it rest against my chest.
We sat in silence the rest of the way to the party. The only noises being the pitter patter of the horses as they walked.
